The Doctor Patient Relationship.

There is no substitution for a trusting mutual relationship between a doctor and his/her patient. When a doctor does not take his /her position seriously and realize that the patients current and future heath lies in his/her hands then serious harm can come to the patient. Conversely when the patient is not completely truthful with his/her doctor or demands he/she take shortcuts to save time and or money for the patient the relationship is compromised.
What needs to be understood up front is what is expected from both parties before they enter that relationship. There are times when a doctor and a certain patient cannot work together and this should be understood early to avoid anger or frustration later. The biggest danger is when any health care provider no longer respects the individuals strengths and weaknesses and makes diagnoses or judgement calls based on incomplete or biased information.
As health care providers in any capacity we need to be on the lookout for this happening and if we cannot keep an objective viewpoint irregardless of how we may feel about a patients personality or behavior pattern then we need to opt out of the care of that patient to prevent our bias from causing harm to a patients care!

Joke for the day!  WHY DID THE CLOWN GO TO THE DOCTOR?

( HE WAS FEELING A LITTLE FUNNY!!!!!!!)
